Severstal North America PCISeverstal North America PCILocation:Dearborn, MichiganProject:DTE Energy Services owns and operates a pulverized coal grinding facility and sells the output to SeverStal North America. The pulverized coal is delivered to Severstal’s steel facility located in Dearborn, Michigan. The project began commercial operation in May 2008.
Sparrows PointSparrows PointLocation:Baltimore, MarylandProject:DTE Energy Services owns a pulverized coal injection (PCI) plant at the Sparrows Point steelmaking facility in Baltimore County, Maryland. The project began commercial operation in July 2000. It is comprised of a PCI facility and associated coal handling, storage, pulverizing and conveyance systems, including pneumatic pipelines that transport pulverized coal from the grinding facility to the Sparrows Point blast furnace.
- Coke Battery
Burns HarborBurns HarborLocation:Burns Harbor, IndianaProject:DTE Energy Services has a passive ownership interest in this metallurgical coke production plant. The Burns Harbor Coke Battery is comprised of 82 ovens; each oven is six meters high. The project is located at one of Arcelor Mittal’s largest facilities in the United States. It is a fully integrated steelmaking facility strategically located on Lake Michigan approximately 50 miles southeast of Chicago.
EES Coke BatteryEES Coke BatteryLocation:Detroit, MichiganProject:The EES Coke Battery Project includes 85 ovens; each oven is six meters high. The current production capability of the project is approximately 1,025,000 natural tons of furnace grade coke per year, plus associated quantities of nut coke and coke breeze. In addition, the by-products plant is capable of processing 56 million standard cubic feet per day of ‘clean’ coke oven gas. The plant recovers approximately 9 million gallons of tar and 1.9 million gallons of light oil per year for sale.
Indiana HarborIndiana HarborLocation:East Chicago, IndianaProject:DTE Energy Services has a passive ownership interest in this metallurgical coke production plant at the Indiana Harbor Works. The Indiana Harbor Project began commercial operation in May 1998. It is the largest steelmaking complex in North America. It is a fully integrated facility, strategically located on the southern shore of Lake Michigan approximately 20 miles southeast of Chicago, Illinois.
